Genre:Fantasy
Reviewer:Xander (age 13)
Have you ever fallen asleep during math class? Are you easily distracted while listening to your English teacher? Do you find yourself completely uninterested in geography? Well, it may not be your fault. The janitors at Welcher Elementary know a secret, and it s draining all the smarts out of the kids. Twelve-year-old Spencer Zumbro, with the help of his classmate Daisy Gullible Gates, must fight with and against a secret, janitorial society that wields wizard-like powers. Who can Spencer and Daisy trust and how will they protect their school and possibly the world? Janitors is book 1 in a new children s fantasy series by debut novelist Tyler Whitesides. You ll never look at a mop the same way again.

*note* This review has "small" spoilers ~ nothing that we think actually gives anything away.

Introduction: Spencer was just an average kid until one day his life changed. When Spencer started seeing toxites, creatures that prevented learning, he was sucked into the world of Janitors.

Brief description:
In this book, Spencer and his new friend Daisy, must solve the mystery of the Janitors and figure out who is really their friend in this battle over the toxites.

What I think:
Tyler Whitesides does an amazing job with the writing, creating a detailed and ?? world. I really enjoyed the way he took something less appealing, like Janitors, and made a humorous and action-packed story.

I'd recommend this book . . .
to anyone, but especially those who enjoyed Fablehaven and The Candy Shop War.

  2. I love the cover too--and the premise that some janitors are doing magic behind-the-scenes is really intriguing.

  3. A very unique sounding story. The premise should appeal to both boys and girls. Thanks for sharing and I'll be on the lookout for my own copy soon.
